A Community Vision
for Connection & Education

A hireable space for workshops, talks and educational activities.

An ancient site

The Round House (Bride’s Hill House) sits at the gateway to Bride’s Mound (Beckery Chapel), the oldest Celtic Christian burial site in England. The ruins are over 1,500 years old, dating back to the fifth century AD.

The Saxon chapel dates back to the time of St Brigid and St Patrick. We don’t know the date of the first chapel, which may well have been wooden: there are several post holes, but these haven’t been dated.

Friends of Bride’s Mound

Bride’s Mound is preserved by Friends of Bride’s Mound (FOBM) and the South West Heritage Trust.

For over 30 years, since 1986, FOBM have been taking people to the burial site at Imbolc, and they became a company in 1995.

FOBM have championed this vision, tirelessly advocating for a space that honours the historical and ecological importance of the area. Their commitment, alongside the support of our partners, is a cornerstone of the Roundhouse’s creation.

Getting to the chapel site

There is an accessible ramp to the chapel site on Bride’s Mound, and a disabled path from the Roundhouse up to the chapel site.

Nature and our partners

Through this initiative, and by supporting Friends of Bride’s Mound, we hope to connect visitors to the Avalon Marshes and support efforts to create wildlife corridors that encourage native species to thrive.

We work hand in hand with Friends of Bride’s Mound, the South West Heritage Trust and the Somerset Wildlife Trust to make this vision a reality.

A Space That Celebrates Nature

Built with sustainable practices and materials, the Bride’s Round House exemplifies how eco-conscious design can blend seamlessly with the environment. Its surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden

Inside, you’ll find a thoughtfully designed space equipped with modern amenities.

It’s a classroom, a meeting room, and a place of inspiration all under one roof. Whether you’re attending a workshop, hosting a talk, volunteering or simply connecting with nature, the Roundhouse is a space created with intention and care.
